Constance Cassinelli can relate to being a female Huckleberry Finn on a raft down the river of life in search of adventure. Wonderful tributaries have provided the thrill of writing discoveries as well as challenges. To navigate back upstream against current has provided the greatest reward as it has been a real test of determination and resourcefulness. Her first novel, Cayenne and the Diablo Kid, a western melodrama, received 9 Five-Star ratings from readers. A second novel, Caro Nicola Promise Kept, also received excellent ratings. It is a historical novel inspired by the life of her great grandfather’s family who lived in a 17th century monastery-home in Liguria and survived the 1848 European Revolutions and the Italian peninsula’s Risorgimento. The discovery of old Italian letters in a trunk created the desire for her to journey into another century and walk the land of her people. Her lifetime quest to write this historical novel was featured in The Claremont Courier 3/8/2024. She was one of nine authors the Claremont Library showcased during the September 2024 National Authors month. This event generated her performance as guest speaker for the Congregational Pilgrim’s Annual Library Club on 2/16/2025. |

Three short stories are published in the 2019 IECWC Anthology. Five are included in the 25th Anniversary Anthology Inland Empire California Writers Club. Other writing adventures she has explored are a humorous novella-cookbook set in England, the flash non-fiction escapades involving eccentric family members, and the numerous comedies-of-errors experienced by her poet friend, Jeannie Weenie. Her work has appeared in Fresh Ink 13 times; SoCal Writers Showcase 6 times. She also wrote a wonderful obituary for a friend for the Claremont Courier. For two consecutive years she found great joy in reading her entire novels for the blind and other sight impaired. She has been active in the Inland Empire California Writers Club for more than ten years, serving on the board as critique group coordinator. The goal is to encourage writers to help other writers through constructive feedback. Capturing the lifestyle of her great-grandfather in America continues in a third novel, Caro Nicola Journey to Principio. It begins in 1861 at the outbreak of our Civil War. |
